Radically Transformed Morningside Bungalow Seeks $984K

New, 15 comments

Few signs of 1929 remain in these 2,600 square feet, an acorn's toss from Piedmont Park

Only the faintest outlines remain of the bungalow that’s occupied this lot around the corner from Piedmont Park since 1929.

A couple of years ago, the old brick abode underwent a radical, geometric overhaul, resulting in three streamlined bedrooms, three bathrooms, and 2,599 square feet (not exactly a modern McMansion). It listed this week for $984,900.

It’s perched on Monroe Drive in Morningside-Lenox Park, around the corner from ONE Midtown Kitchen and the like. Piedmont’s most recent expansion allows for green-space access nearby, and the park itself provides a link to the Eastside Trail and Midtown beyond.

But back to the house.

This renovation by Dencity isn’t exactly a fly-by-night Home Depot job. Notably, the open entertainer’s kitchen is described as "a Poliform masterpiece" — with its Miele appliances, Sub-Zero built-in fridge, custom Piatta hood, and Dornbracht faucet — and each bathroom has imported Italian Gatto vanities. Custom lighting spans the house. And the ubiquitous white pallet electrifies the artwork.

Some might quibble with the lack of garage at this price point, but rarely are Atlanta’s carports this striking and functional.
