Neighborhood info site Niche recently ranked 100 Georgia suburbs based on crime, public schools, cost of living, job opportunities, weather(?), and local amenities.
And the winner is ... Decatur! Probably to the chagrin of many city-savvy Decaturites.
In staking its claim of suburban dominance, Decatur rose to the top and beat out a list of 'burby OTP all-stars that includes Johns Creek, Alpharetta, Roswell, Suwanee, and Dunwoody.
Congrats, Decatur!
Other mentions, some of which are perplexing: Druid Hills (ranked 16th), North Druid Hills (20th); Dunwoody (15th); Tucker (25th); Duluth (11th); Peachtree Corners (12th); Suwanee (14th); Buford (17th); Smyrna (6th); Vinings (9th); Kennesaw (21st); Marietta (24th); Alpharetta (3rd); Johns Creek (4th); Roswell (7th); Milton (8th); and Sandy Springs (18th).
According to its website, Niche gathered data from the U.S. Census, FBI, CDC, and other agencies to come up with the list, which also ranks the whole country’s best suburbs.
Sorry, Decatur, you ranked as merely the 63rd best 'burb there. But we can’t all be the fittingly named Superior, Colo. (ranked first in nation).
