First look: Near Edgewood MARTA, ‘pocket neighborhood’ plows ahead

17-home project of various styles expected to deliver next year

The Edgewood/Candler Park MARTA station has been an exceptionally strong catalyst for development of late, and recently unveiled plans for a 17-home "pocket neighborhood" serve to drive that point home.

Dubbed "La France Walk," the unique project is plowing ahead on a large, tucked-away Edgewood lot between the MARTA station and Edgewood Retail District.

There appears to be at least four distinct styles in the offing, coined "The Arts & Crafts," "The Farmhouse," "The Bungalow," and "The Four Square." No info on price points yet.

The pint-sized ‘hood is expected to deliver sometime in 2017.

Several multifamily ventures are in the works within a short distance — most notably MARTA’s "Spoke," the agency’s first transit-oriented development of several planned. It’s currently turning an underused parking lot into 224 "premium apartment homes" expected to open in 2018, with future plans for a restaurant, neighborhood park, and more.
