Insanely opulent Roswell estate to host film industry bigwigs

Atlanta welcomes moviemakers with 27,000 square feet of "Victorian" magnificence

In less than two weeks, a Roswell dwelling that must be one of the area’s poshest estates will play host to cinema scouts, moviemakers, actors, lawmakers, and dignitaries as the venue for a three-day, invitation-only film summit.

The opening reception for the 40th annual Cineposium 2016 will be held at the McPherson Mansion (4790 Shallowford Road, Roswell) Sept. 22. The days-long summit will also be held at other venues throughout the metro Atlanta area through Sept. 24.

Designed by Bill Harrison, the 27,000-square-foot "Victorian" mansion (since when do massive columns equate to Victorian design?) has garnered attention, both nationally and internationally. Here it is, for instance, in the Wall Street Journal.

Nestled on 3.5 acres, the home has two grand ballrooms, many master suites, a carriage house, indoor basketball court, and a home theater that — according to a news release promoting the McPherson Mansion — "takes cues from Atlanta’s historic Fox Theater." It also has one giant lawn.

Promoters shared precious few photos, but more pictures from an earlier Curbed Atlanta profile showing the ultra-opulent interior and grounds can be seen below.

There’s also some shaky drone footage, which includes a dramatic fly-through of the indoor pool room.
