Planned hotel-condo combination could bring big changes to Crescent Avenue

Midtown’s tallest tower since the Recession moved a few steps closer to reality at this week’s Development Review Committee meeting.

According to Midtown Alliance, the proposed 43-story hotel and condo tower could soon receive formal approval. Trillist first announced its intentions for the SLS Atlanta Hotel Residences at Crescent Avenue and 13th Street back in June. Since that initial presentation, the design team has worked to improve the pedestrian scale and managed to squeeze in an extra floor, one extra hotel room, and 10 additional condo units.

The current iteration would contain 214 hotel rooms and 66 condo units atop 12 levels of podium parking, replacing a two-story midcentury apartment building. With the green-light from the DRC, the project could soon be ready for construction.

Also presented at the DRC were the plans for the renovation happening at 1372 Peachtree St. (see above). ASD-Sky will transform the banal three-story building with a new glass facade and exterior staircase to enliven the street.
