Fans of density in Midtown, rejoice! North American Properties (NAP), the owner of Colony Square, intends to add another office tower to the property.

According to the Atlanta Business Chronicle, plans unveiled at the Development Review Committee meeting for Midtown this week show a new tower rising at 15th and Peachtree streets. However, little additional information was available, and the construction of the tower is likely a few phases away.

In the meantime, NAP received conditional approval to move forward with much of the planned work on the site.

The Peachtree Street driveway will be removed in favor of on-street parking, and other access points to the site will be enhanced. The developer is even exploring the option of a right-of-way swap with the city that could result in the realignment of 15th Street.

Last year, work began on converting the indoor mall in the heart of Midtown into an outdoor shopping experience and center for the neighborhood.

The reinvention of Colony Square, Midtown's oldest high-rise office development, is projected to be finished for the property’s 50th anniversary in 2018.
