Recent listings in Buckhead have offered up perfectly livable midcentury houses as possible, sacrificial teardowns.
But this 1959 relic in the same part of town will enjoy a dissimilar fate—and prolonged life—thanks to a different tactic: substantial renovation.
Beyond the exterior lines and maybe wood flooring, not much of the midcentury modern-ness remains here on Mount Paran Road, which could be sweet music to MCM enthusiasts who also covet marble and SMEG appliances. (Well, at least a touch of what looks like original flagstone flooring remains, too).
Tucked off Northside Drive, due west of Chastain Park, the four-bedroom, three-bathroom house last sold about three years ago for $585,000. Per the listing, a complete renovation has transpired across what Zillow pegs as about 3,200 square feet.
It listed last week (at $795,000) and was placed under contract Monday.
Surely the “entertainer’s delight” backyard deck—a two-level, forest-shaded layout with an outdoor kitchen, fire pit area, dining zone, and room for much, much more—played a role in the quick “pending” status.
“This is a special and unique home sure [to] impress even the most discriminating buyer!” shouted the listing last week.
Maybe that declaration wasn’t an exaggeration.
