A long season of lousy baseball might be over, but festivities are just beginning at The Battery, metro Atlanta’s latest mixed-use mecca.
Joining the yuletide-embracing ranks of Atlantic Station and now Ponce City Market, the commercial hub around SunTrust Park will open an ice-skating rink this Saturday, where Santa Clause will pose for photo ops and a DJ will spin at night through mid-January.
The Cobb County attraction’s first magical tree-lighting is schedule for the following Friday (Dec. 1) at 7 p.m., with Atlanta Braves players and Santa expected to attend.
The skating rink will open at 11 a.m. throughout the holidays and stay rockin’ on Friday and Saturday nights until 11 p.m., offering ample opportunity for ice-adverse Southerns to bruise themselves.
Admission for skating begins at $13 for adults and $10 for kiddos 12 and under, although rates vary according to date. That sounds comparable to PCM’s new rooftop rink, where tix are $15 for 50 minutes of skating, and Atlantic Station’s “Skate the Station” setup (adults: $15).
Due to park construction, holiday events at Centennial Olympic Park ain’t happening this year.
Elsewhere around The Battery, these offerings described in a press release could be alluring for partying parents and their spawn:
“SunTrust Park will open its doors on weekends and select days for children to enjoy Hope and Will’s Sandlot where they can take part in carnival games, a batting cage, zip lines, a climbing wall, and much more.
Located in The Battery Atlanta plaza, the Winter Wonderland Party Zone will offer holiday music, performances from The Atlanta Braves Heavy Hitters, visits from The Home Depot Tools, and holiday craft stations.”
