$620K Edgewood modern with roof deck, hot tub is deceptively a decade old

Proof that concrete floors, interior garage doors, and skyline party zones aren’t a wholly new phenomenon.

For years, Edgewood has quietly been a pioneer in Atlanta’s modern home movement, and this stylish duplex wedged between MARTA transit and a commercial epicenter was among the forebears.

Offered at $619,900, the street-side half of this semi-detached equation was built in 2007, back when concrete floors and garage doors in Atlanta were typically found in, well, garages.

The listing description gets enthusiastically poetic—“Sleek and chic Intown retreat!”—in describing a property that seems to make fun a top priority. The hot tub, with an accompanying outdoor shower(!), is girded by outdoor lounging options, accessed via one garage door. Elsewhere, there’s no shortage of modern-style barn doors.

Up top, the multi-faceted roof deck (with another garage door) is impressively spacious, offering downtown views and ample room for cocktail parties punctuated by the whoosh of MARTA trains.

The total room count might smack as low for some buyers (three bedrooms, two and 12 bathrooms) but with nearly 2,600 square feet, it’s not exactly a tight squeeze.

Other highlights include a sophisticated master bathroom that looks highly customized, Dada cabinetry, the gas fireplace in the master, and a two-car garage with storage, which appears to separate the zygotic dwellings.

Surrounded by style-appropriate landscaping that makes the exterior pop, the home stands a few block from MARTA’s Edgewood station and around the corner from the backside of Lowe’s—and all else within the Edgewood Retail District.

And it could stand as proof that modern design is capable of standing the test of time.
