Ascent Midtown project, fronting West Peachtree, 18th, and Spring streets, should be complete by next summer.

While much of Midtown boasts a towering skyline, the area north of 17th Street has remained relatively low-density, with the majority of buildings typically maxing out at just a few stories.

That’s changing with construction of Ascent Midtown. The two-towered project will ultimately bring more than 300 apartments and nearly 180 hotel rooms to a 1.5-acre site with frontage on West Peachtree, 18th, and Spring streets. It was revealed earlier this year that the hotel will be a Canopy branded Hilton property—the first of its type in Atlanta.

The project is being developed by Greystar, and was designed by R2L:Architects. Construction launched last year, following the demolition of a three-story office building that had stood on the site since the 1950s.

Now, the northern tower—the hotel portion of the development—has topped out, while the taller apartment tower has another five stories to rise. Construction has progressed dramatically since the summer.

Signs surrounding the site, and a new website for the development, indicate the project should wrap next summer.

Floorplans and pricing should be available in the coming months.
