With no shortage of elevated “English Arts and Crafts” styling, a new high-end apartment development is beginning construction in Sandy Springs.

Adjacent to the Mercedes-Benz Headquarters along Abernathy Road at Ga. Highway 400, the Alastair has been revealed as the multifamily offering at the larger Aria Village development.

Work has now begun on the five-story, 357-unit building by Westdale and StreetLights Residential. Interestingly, the number of apartments has increased dramatically from previously altered plans, which were the result of major pushback from the community.

When complete, the Looney Ricks Kiss-designed facility will include 30,000 square feet of retail and restaurant space. Of course, the retail offerings will be “boutique” and the restaurants will all be “chef-driven.”

The residences at the Alastair will range from one-bedroom offerings, starting at around 700 square feet, to three-bedroom floorplans of more than 2,000 square feet.

Amenities should rival intown luxury offerings, with features including a pool deck, co-working spaces, dog wash, and a two-story fitness facility. Some of the apartments will even feature private screened porches.

A glimpse of how posh life could be at the Alastair. Come on in, Mercedes money!

Aria Village will ultimately entail an array of townhomes, single-family homes, and the newly announced retail and multifamily offerings.

The entire community spans three tracts of land, including the site that once housed the grandiose Tudor mansion Glenridge Hall—ironically, a similar style to the new development.

A large portion of the dense forest that filled the site before the demolition of Glenridge Hall was clear cut, but the community will feature pockets of “lush greenery and trees,” as well as access to new hiking trails.

According to the Ashton Woods website, 102 of the homes in the neighborhood are already sold.

The first residents of the Alastair will be able to move in, developers say, in the fall of 2019.
