The Beltline is slated to take another step forward next week, with the groundbreaking of the Northwest Connector Trail in Atlanta Memorial Park.
According to Reporter Newspapers, the trail will connect to an existing network of paths in the park and along Northside Drive, including the Northside Trail Spur at Tanyard Creek Park.
Plans call for the trail—part of ongoing upgrades at the park, which includes Bobby Jones Golf Course, and the Bitsy Grant Tennis Center—to run along the northern edge of Peachtree Creek, alongside Woodward Way. A new footbridge crossing the creek will tie it into the rest of the park.

Once all the trails are complete, the network will add more than three miles of pathway to the “completed” column for the Beltline.
Construction of the latest portion of the network is funded by the last year’s TSPLOST vote and the PATH Foundation.
