A new luxury hotel, adjacent to the Porsche North American headquarters just outside of the airport, is racing toward the finish line.
Last week, the hotel topped out at eight stories, according to the Atlanta Business Chronicle. Construction is on time for an opening of the hotel early next year.
The Solís Hotel sits just to the west of the award-winning Porsche facility, which houses corporate offices as well as the Porsche Experience, opened in summer 2015. The buildings — both designed by HOK — evoke the sleek lines of Porsche’s cars, which will be on full display to hotel guests as drivers negotiate the adjacent 1.7-mile test track.
Racing-inspired design doesn’t stop outside, with renderings showing that the 214 rooms will include features like headboards embossed with images of racing cars.
A rooftop terrace will provide views of the Porsche facility, as well as the eastern end of the airport’s northernmost runways.
Meanwhile, work is plugging along on two more hotel near Hartsfield-Jackson.
Work is wrapping up on the Renaissance Atlanta Airport Gateway Hotel, which is expected to open in April. The hotel will bring 204 rooms and swanky amenities to the Gateway complex, adjacent to the Georgia International Convention Center.
Closer to the terminal, a new Intercontinental Hotel is planned to fill an existing parking lot as part of a large new development. Work on that project is anticipated to begin in 2018.
