Construction is finally underway to transform an old parking lot in the heart of Midtown into a Marriott dual-branded hotel property.
According to a press release by Winter Construction, work has begun on 14th Street between West Peachtree Street and Crescent Avenue on the AC Hotel/Moxy Hotel hybrid. The hotel will rise between two existing lodges—the Four Seasons to the east and a Marriott Suites to the west.
Designed by Cooper Carry, the 266,000-square-foot facility, divided between two independent towers, will sit atop a parking deck podium to serve both hotels. The AC tower will contain 133 rooms, while the Moxy will have 155.
The AC will be one of three similarly branded properties in the city when it opens; the first opened in Buckhead last year, and a hotel downtown is going through a conversion slated to be finished later this year.
Meanwhile, the Moxy Hotel—which is allegedly “designed for millennials”—will be the first of its kind in Georgia.
Look for construction to carry into summer of next year.
