MARTA’s transit oriented development (TOD) initiative moved forward this week with the launch of a venture called “Trackside” by Parkside Partners.

The Atlanta Business Chronicle reports that construction began this week on the project, slated to bring offices and retail space to a former parking lot adjacent to Chamblee MARTA Station.

The in-progress project joins a growing list of MARTA sites welcoming mixed-use developments. While work was slated to begin years ago on this Chamblee lot, environmental concerns have held back progress.

Phase One of the project will feature 15,000 square feet of offices for Pattillo Industrial Real Estate, plus retail spaces. Ultimately, the project will offer some 80,000 square feet of office space and 13,000 square feet of retail.

While Trackside is just getting started, other developments in the area that are quickly transforming this ITP district include the Olmstead, Parkside, 5300 Lofts, and The Malone on Peachtree.

Work on the $25 million Trackside project should reportedly wrap up in just a year.
