High-end apartment tower across the street from the Fox Theatre will top out soon, welcome first residents next year

Across the street from the Fox Theatre, lilli Midtown—one of the swankiest apartment towers to rise in Atlanta in recent memory—is heading toward topping out.

The JPX Works project, slated to rise 24 stories, is taking shape at the corner of Peachtree and Third streets, replacing a long-abandoned two-story commercial building demolished last August.

So far, construction has reached the 20th floor, meaning there are just four more floors to climb for vertical construction to finish. Meanwhile, on the lower floors, the building’s envelope-pushing aesthetic is coming together, with preparations underway for the white metal panels that will skin the building.

Plenty of work remains on the 150-unit apartment tower, and residents likely won’t be moving in for another year. But nonetheless, a structure like this, replacing an underused lot, is a welcome addition to a neighborhood on the upswing.
