Three-story home “celebrates and embraces its surroundings” but continues to linger on market

Touted as “a masterpiece of home and outdoors” in the listing, this four-bedroom, four-bathroom offering in Midway Woods, not far from downtown Decatur, certainly works hard to create a blend of natural beauty with modern touches.

After a month on the market, though, the asking price of $800,000 was reduced a not-so-whopping $5,000 to the current ask of $795,000.

It remains to be seen if that adjustment will spur interest, especially with other homes in the area going for between $419,00 and $618,000. It’s located south of Decatur and Avondale Estates, outside the Decatur schools zone.

On the surface, this 2,230-square-foot house looks like a great opportunity for buyers wanting something unique that’s relatively close to shopping, dining, and entertaining.

Natural materials such as oak floors, a white-oak island and granite countertops in the kitchen, and locally harvested oak timbers used throughout certainly lend a rustic ambiance.

Modern amenities including Jenn-Air kitchen appliances, heated tile floors in the bathrooms, and installed wiring for data and sound bring this home into the 21st Century.

Of course, the large covered deck off the master bedroom as well as the large screened-in porch with fireplace off the main living room do their part to reinforce the home’s “tree house” reputation while providing plenty of outdoor entertaining space. On the flip side, the driveway parking could be off-putting for many.

As has been the case with other spiffy new properties in this general neck of the eastside woods, the $700,000s echelon can be a tough sell despite Atlanta’s red-hot market, and that appears to be the case here in the trees.
