Columns have started to rise from a former parking lot in Midtown, sandwiched between the Four Seasons Hotel and the Atlanta Marriott Suites Midtown, marking the first vertical construction on a dual-branded Marriott property.

First announced in 2015, the Moxy—AC mashup will ultimately bring nearly 300 hotel rooms to 14th Street, between West Peachtree Street and Crescent Avenue.

The hotel will stand across the street from the planned No2 Opus Place condo development, slated to launch construction this fall.

Two towers, accommodating the two hotels separately, will sit atop a shared parking podium with rooftop pool and lounge spaces. Designed by Cooper Carry, the 266,000-square-foot building will provide a total of 288 rooms; 133 in the AC Hotel and 155 in the Moxy.

While the AC will be one of three similarly branded properties in the city when it opens, following Buckhead and downtown, the Moxy will be the first of its kind in Georgia.

Construction is slated to last another year.

Good riddance to that surface parking lot in such a prominent place.
