Sandy Springs gets MARTA-adjacent apartment development

New apartment block replaces single-family homes near North Springs Station

Sandy Springs has been a suburban area quick to embrace density and transit-oriented development over the past few years.

One standout example of the suburban-to-urban density shift is the mixed-use, apartment-anchored development rising across the street from North Springs MARTA Station. Work is quickly moving along there on a 236-unit apartment development atop retail spaces, filling a site formerly occupied by just three single-family homes.

Alexan North Station, as the development is called, is Trammell Crow Residential’s first foray into the northern OTP realm, following co-branded successful developments in East Atlanta Village, Glenwood, Old Fourth Ward, Decatur, and Vinings.

Work is also underway on an Alexan-branded tower in the heart of Midtown.

In Sandy Springs, the mix of bedroom counts in the building is unclear as of yet, through spaces are definitely destined to be roomy, with the developer noting the average apartment will be more than 930 square feet.

Designed by Dwell, the project will welcome its first residents in October, and work should wrap up by March 2018.

Construction as of this week.
