A new duplex project is now officially beckoning Atlanta starter-home seekers who dig modern architecture to venture farther afield than the city’s usual red-hot real estate zones.

A few blocks south of downtown, and across The Connector from Summerhill, the eight-unit Mechanicsville community dubbed “Metroville” is described as offering “one of the most affordable handcrafted starter homes available” around intown Atlanta.

Larger, first-phase floorplans called the “Marquis” were unveiled this week. The asking price of $329,000 buys 1,631 square feet, three bedrooms, and two and 12 bathrooms. Plus, rooftop terraces with city views.

Each will have one-car garages, patios, and ancillary decks, too. Smaller, two-bedroom units will start at $229,000.

Overall, the project is described as a “unique opportunity to own in a historic, family oriented neighborhood surrounded by Beltline, interstates, downtown, GSU and Carter mixed-use redevelopment.”

When Metroville first emerged in June, the targeted opening was spring 2018. It’s now looking more like next summer before move-ins can happen, per the listing.

With the new listing came these interior previews and floorplans:

Below are plans for the exterior design and community layout. The project will occupy a corner lot directly across The Connector from Georgia State Stadium’s parking lots.
