Underground Atlanta’s Post-Office Cowork business is going belly-up

Around this time last year, a novel new concept popped up at Underground Atlanta: The Post-Office Cowork project, which offered a pay-per-use place to work, an alternative to typical cubicle confinement.

It put a unique spin on the coworking trend that’s seen shareable satellite office spaces crop up around metro Atlanta and beyond.

And its proprietors had plans to create even more Post-Office locations.

But as of this weekend, Post-Office will be no more.

“We have failed to create a sustainable platform for working everywhere. For this, we’re deeply sorry,” says the Post-Office website, which is no longer allowing people to purchase passes or book rooms.

“If you have existing passes or bookings, those will be honored through October 13,” it continues.

Post-Office Downtown was a prototype meant to help its leaders understand the ins and outs of creating pop-up office spaces.

“We’re going back to the drawing board on office evolution and hope our efforts thus far have started to contribute toward cultural shifts around the workplace,” the page says.

With Post-Office gone, that leaves only the Masquerade music venue operating at Underground Atlanta, although other tenants are coming.

Last month, Project Q reported a gay dance club and cabaret called Future would be opening up at Underground, which is undergoing a major mixed-use overhaul by developer WRS.

And in June, project officials announced the downtown site could also be getting a national grocer and a movie theater, among other, smaller tenants.

Underground representatives have not yet responded to requests for an updated tenant list.
