The latest project in a flurry of Howell Mill Road construction activity is set to offer a public-accessible roof experience by the makers of Ponce City Market’s rooftop attractions that developers are calling unparalleled.
Commercial real estate developers S.J. Collins Enterprises have brought in Slater Hospitality Concepts—the company behind PCM’s Nine Mile Station, Skyline Park, Rooftop Terrace, and RFD Social—to create the rooftop experience at The Interlock.
A planned mixed-use investment of $450 million where Howell Mill meets 14th Street, The Interlock is scheduled to begin demolition next month, with expectations of delivering in the summer of 2020, officials tell Curbed Atlanta. The site hosts a smattering of low-rise buildings and a large empty lot now.

The roof offerings are still in design phases, but plans call for transforming a “one-acre area in the sky that overlooks the Atlanta skyline ... into the ultimate rooftop experience,” said S.J. Collins Enterprises partner Jeff Garrison in a prepared statement.
That will entail a modern, private pool club and lounge with a retractable roof and infinity-edge pool that meets the skyline, plus a 12,000-square-foot, two-story restaurant and outdoor bar with a covered patio dubbed “The Grove,” officials said.
The pool and lounge club will be membership-based, most likely with a day-pass option, while the restaurant and bar will be public, a rep tells Curbed.
“Atlanta can expect something it hasn’t seen or experienced yet,” predicted Mandy Slater, co-owner of Slater Hospitality Concepts, in a press release.

Meanwhile, The Interlock is expected to bring a substantial mix of loft office space (200,000 square feet, with a Georgia Tech Ventures tech incubator claiming a fourth of it), plus 105,000 square feet of retail, and a 145-key Marriott Tribute Portfolio hotel.
For The Interlock’s residential component, expect 350 apartments and 70 single-family homes, officials said.
