With multiple breweries, a major mixed-use community under construction, and a new Publix shopping center, Atlanta’s so-called “Upper Westside” is looking more lively by the hour.

And as of today, another large-scale residential build is underway on Marietta Boulevard.

Called NOVEL Upper Westside and developed by a partnership between EDENS and Crescent Communities, the new project is slated to bring 345 apartments and some 15,000 square feet of retail space, all right next to the 45,000-square-foot Publix, which EDENS also developed.

This residential and additional retail development is actually the second phase of EDENS’s overhaul of the block where the grocery store sits—at the corner of Marietta Boulevard and Moores Mill Road, just southeast of the Chattahoochee River.

Phase II’s 300,000-square-foot addition will bring a mishmash of one-, two-, and three-bedroom units, as well as “resort-like amenities,” such as a “serene pool courtyard,” modern workout facilities, rooftop lounge, and dog park.

Plus: “EDENS has invested in supporting diversity and inclusion through green space renovation[s] at nearby Sara Gonzalez Park,” according to a press release.

“Atlanta’s Upper Westside is quickly becoming one of the most desirable neighborhoods inside the perimeter, and we’re excited to be part of cultivating a true live, work, play experience,” said Kyle Brock, managing director of multifamily for Crescent Communities, per the release.

The new Moores Mill retail and residential project is scheduled to be completed in the beginning of 2020.

In the meantime, Upper Westside residents can look forward to the planned opening of the $40 million mixed-use development dubbed Westside Village.

The first tenants at the site—also on Marietta Boulevard—are slated to open for business in a few weeks.

Another residential complex rising in the area is called Vue at the Quarter.

The 271-unit community aims to offer new rentals on Bolton Road, near Crest Lawn Memorial Park, by next November.
