In a few days, a $450 million mixed-use build by developer S.J. Collins Enterprises is expected to kick off construction in West Midtown, signaling what could be the most transformative changes to booming Howell Mill Road in recent memory.
Sited at the intersection of Howell Mill and 14th Street, The Interlock—named after its Howell Mill Interlocking Historic District home—is anticipated to bring some 200,000 square feet of loft office space, upwards of 100,000 square feet of retail, and a 145-key Marriott Tribute Portfolio hotel.
A Georgia Tech Ventures incubator would take up a quarter of the office space.
But that’s not all, folks.
The mixed-use complex is also expected to deliver 350 apartments, 70 single-family houses, and, thanks to Slater Hospitality Concepts, of Ponce City Market’s The Roof acclaim, “the ultimate rooftop experience.”
Although the rooftop part of the project is still being designed, developers have said people can look forward to a pool club and lounge, replete with a retractable roof and infinity pool, as well as a 12,000-square-foot, two-story restaurant and outdoor bar.
The pool and lounge club are expected to be for members only, although development reps told Curbed Atlanta last month day-passes might be available, too.
The restaurant and bar would be open to the public.
In April, the developer filed permit applications for The Interlock’s construction, and on November 13, the warehouse on the project site—vacant for more than three years—is scheduled to begin demolition.
The whole shebang is expected to be complete in summer 2020.
