After a slow start to construction, a new dual-branded hotel in the heart of Midtown is quickly rising between the Four Seasons and Marriott Suites Midtown on 14th Street.

Announced more than two and a half years ago, the dual-branded Marriott property will include an AC Hotel and a Moxy Hotel; combined, they will bring nearly 300 rooms to the neighborhood.

The site was cleared nearly a year ago, and the first columns were poured last summer, but it took months for the lower portion of the building—a concrete parking deck—to be constructed on an old parking lot. Since then, construction of the metal structure of the building has risen quickly.

When complete, the AC portion of the property will face 14th Street and the Moxy will face 13th Street. The AC is described as a European experience, while the Moxy is “designed for millennials,” according to Marriott.

When it opens, the AC will be the third incarnation of the brand in Atlanta, following the first in Buckhead and a downtown location currently under construction.

Meanwhile, the project will bring Georgia’s first Moxy.

Expect construction to wrap up later this year.
