Just north of Centennial Olympic Park, another hotel to join recent groundswell

The neighborhood to the north of Centennial Olympic Park has been fertile ground for new hotels in the past few months, with one nearing completion and two more proposed.

Now, a third proposal is joining the mix, as plans are moving forward for a 157-room Element hotel along Marietta Street, according to a Special Administrative Permit filing.

Like a dual-branded property proposed a mile to the east, the project is designed by LPBC—and similarly, renderings show little more than a boxy structure perched atop a parking deck.

The building would rise on a site adjacent to the Hyatt House, which opened a few years ago.

Located where Marietta Street meets Mill Street, the building would surprisingly replace one of the “coolest homes” (our words, not theirs) in Atlanta, housed in an 1869 former factory, according to renderings.

Beneath the multi-floor parking deck, with room for 110 cars, there would be lounge space, a meeting room, and a workout facility on the ground floor. The building would stand 12 stories, plans state.

The Element brand is also looking to expand into Midtown as part of a dual-branded property next to the Fox Theatre. Also designed by LPBC, that hotel is hung up due to concerns over the design.
