A gas station neighboring the downtown Connector is about to see a unique addition as crews begin the process of crowning it with offices.

The BP at the corner of Spring Street and North Avenue, at the junction of Midtown and downtown, will sprout second-story office space.

Proposed nearly a year ago, the 22,000-square-foot office project will top the existing mini mart and Dunkin’ Donuts.

Permit filings indicate the project will cost nearly $3 million.

While a unique addition by Atlanta standards, there are at least two other gas station-office hybrids in the metro.

A Chevron near Northlake Mall, and another Chevron at West Paces Ferry Road and Interstate 75, feature similar arrangements.
