In announcing the latest mixed-use happenings at Cobb County’s SunTrust Park this week, Coleman Morris, JLL’s director of retail agency leasing, issued a bold statement: "This development has already broken records and reignited the Braves’s fanbase.”
JLL, which has been signing leasing rights contracts left-and-right for highfalutin developments all over metro Atlanta, announced Tuesday it had secured the deal to woo more retailers into open slots at The Battery, the humming mini-city adjacent to the Atlanta Braves’s ballpark.
The young baseball team has indeed been a surprise hit this year. We asked officials for clarification on exactly what records have been broken, however, and the answer seems less clear; the statement appears to be a reference to opening day last year, which was the most lucrative in Atlanta baseball history, per officials.
In any case, JLL is issuing a call for tenants to claim the remaining 30,000 square feet in the $600 million Cobb County project, which will eventually include 1.5 million square feet-plus of offices, restaurants, and retail.
Braves officials have said additional phases could sprout from open land adjacent to The Battery.
The place already boasts quite a roster of bars and eateries, as a press release summarizes:
“The Battery Atlanta opened in time for Opening Day 2017, and is currently home to renowned chef-driven restaurants, such as The El Felix, Achie’s, and C. Ellet’s Steakhouse, interactive retailers, such as Punch Bowl Social and Sports and Social, plus first-to-market concepts, such as Garden & Gun Club and the Mizuno Experience Center, that are perfect for the baseball fan or the off-season visitor. Additionally, Silverspot Cinema recently announced that it is bringing a new first-to-market theater to the development.”
