This 1963 ranch in the northeastern reaches of Atlanta blends updates with MCM hallmarks

Claiming a flat lot among towering hardwoods, this Buckhead listing brings traditional midcentury-modern hallmarks such as skylights, vaulted ceilings, and mirrored closet doors at a price that’s marketed as relatively “tremendous.”

Tucked off Northside Drive, basically equidistant to Chastain Park and Interstate 75, this contemporary ranch from 1963 was listed this past weekend at $799,000.

From the flagstone outside to the angular windows and rare sunken-tub approach in the master bathroom, this four-bedroom embraces its roots while offering updates (the kitchen with eating ledge, all three bathrooms) that might not be original, but don’t necessarily jolt, either.

For a sub-million-dollar listing in this neck of the woods, in the Jackson Elementary School district, it serves plenty of space (3,331 square feet) for a seemingly reasonable breakdown of $239 per foot.

Elsewhere on the 1-acre, landscaped lot, an immense carport could shelter several vehicles. And with a WalkScore of flat 0, that carport could come in handy.

A few steps from the master bedroom is a backyard pool that, as always, is a useful touch in Atlanta, although the verdant surroundings might not be the best for sunbathing—or the easiest when it comes to autumn upkeep.

Despite some quibbles, as the listing notes, it’s a unique property ready to host summer soirees inside and out.
