Just don’t expect walkability to the Decatur Square

An 18-unit townhouse community could be sprouting within a short drive of Decatur, and the homes would sell for relatively cheap.

Last week, Grandview Residential LLC filed a request with DeKalb County to rezone the plot at 1473 Columbia Drive, about a mile from busy Memorial Drive, according to the Atlanta Business Chronicle.

If all goes according to the developer’s plan, homebuyers will be able to snag one of these for around $275,000—a small figure, compared to other offerings within the city limits of Decatur. Of course, the latter would include entree to Decatur’s coveted school system and closer proximity to the city’s bustling downtown.

The 2.4-acre development would bring townhomes of at least 1,600 square feet—each with a two-car garage—as well as green space and a dog park.

The Columbia Drive parcel, it’s worth noting, is also a short drive from the DeKalb School of the Arts.
