Overlooking Lake Lanier, this Gainesville contemporary dwelling desires $1.2M

Wide, open spaces, scenic lakeside views, and a wealth of outdoor entertaining space coalesce into this expansive lakefront retreat

Sitting along the shore of Lake Lanier in Gainesville, this 1993 home is the pure definition of 1990s contemporary.

The five-bedroom, seven-bath house features a soaring, two-story living room outfitted with walls of windows, arched doorways, a tray ceiling, and a curved wrought iron railing along the upstairs walkway.

There’s also the “crisp” updated kitchen (alas, with no range hood), a “vast” owner’s wing, and a workout room with sauna.

Complementing the 6,754-square-foot home is an equally spacious outdoor living space the listing calls “perfect for the outdoor entertainer.”

This includes a covered outdoor kitchen, a sprawling terrace around the swimming pool, and a two-story boat dock on the lake.

There’s even an attached guest house with elevator to accommodate friends and family.

And, because the sale includes an adjacent lot to create 1.25 acres and 175 feet of lake frontage, potential homebuyers could actually have a “private lakefront compound.”

Regardless, the property has an inconsistent history on the market with an original appearance in April 2016 for $1,395,000.

After a price cut to $995,000, the home received an offer in March 2017, but couldn’t seal the deal.

Later that spring, the listing was removed as the current owners changed real estate agents, before re-emerging in August 2017 for the current ask of $1,195,000.

Given that was 290 days ago, it will be interesting to see if another price cut will be forthcoming.
