Tri-level, park-facing Candler Park bungalow is flirting with $1M

Five-bedroom at the cusp of Freedom Park has sheer space to match the price

A bungalow from 2000 for sale in Atlanta’s Candler Park.
A facade that’s deceptively less than 20 years old.

With its generous outdoor hangouts, brick walls, and Arts & Crafts-inspired flourishes, this five-bedroom Candler Park dwelling harkens Atlanta bungalows that are decades older, but it was built around the time Y2K was a thing.

Find it at the cusp of Freedom Park, near the point where Candler Park meets Druid Hills, with full views of wide-open green space just beyond North Avenue.

Bigger than it looks from the street, the 2000-built home is comprised of three finished levels and just shy of 3,400 square feet.

The volume helps explain the pricing; it joins an extremely limited stock of for-sale houses in Candler Park right now (about a half-dozen, including properties under contract), and it’s the lone listing aiming for north of $799,000.

It listed two weeks ago for $995,000.

Some existing sinks, railings, and tiling (from the bathrooms to the front fireplace) hint at the property’s early aughts roots, and the shared driveway situation could irk buyers in the $1-million echelon.

But elsewhere, the listing promises “solid, quality construction you can feel” that includes robust molding, mahogany inlaid flooring, and an “enormous” kitchen that very well may have been updated.

With its clawfoot tub, skylight, walk-out balcony, and coveted morning kitchen, the third-floor master suite is described as “dreamy.” And that looks to be pretty accurate.

The bottom level counts another two bedrooms, flexible space with a wet bar, and in true Atlanta fashion, a two-car garage and second laundry room.
