Colonial-style four-bedroom could be a classy entrée into Lake Claire for $585K

This two-story from the 1940s would be a “showstopper” with a little elbow grease, the listing posits

As current listings illustrate, it’s not uncommon for Lake Claire homes with four bedrooms or more to start deep into the $800,00s—or to list for well over $1 million.

Positioned on a Claire Drive hilltop since 1940, this four-bedroom traditional is offering a cheaper entrée into the coveted eastside neighborhood. But as is, it’s admittedly not perfect.

With a centralized doorway and tall, rectangular stance, the Colonial-style dwelling counts 2,164 square feet, all buffered from the street by a multitude of trees. Lake Claire Park, with its enhanced playground, is two blocks away.

Perks inside include handsome hardwoods, fresh paint, an elegant foyer, a formal living room, and plentiful old built-ins; around back, a garden shed and fire pit area entice. (Although the indoor exercise pool—with a broken motor no less—is a bit funky.)

Potential drawbacks: a dated kitchen, a master bathroom in need of surgery, and just one and a half bathrooms throughout.

The house, however, is indeed move-in ready “and will be a showstopper with a little investment,” per the listing. (Added bonus: The roof will be replaced, and a retaining wall repaired, prior to any closing.)

It listed just before the holiday weekend with Homestead Realtors for $585,000, making it the second cheapest single-family house available in the neighborhood at the moment.
