What $1,200 rents around Atlanta right now

This installment of Curbed Comparisons examines what $1,200—give or take $50—a month can rent north, east, and west of downtown Atlanta.

If location is paramount in deciding where to live, these properties should be good choices. However, that priority has consequences; in this case, that means a notable lack of space. In fact, all of these apartments come in with less than 710 square feet, and only one has two bedrooms. But for many renters, that could be a perfect fit.

Gables 820 West

Located west of Georgia Tech in Knight Park/Howell Station, this 630-square-foot apartment at the Gables 820 West includes one bedroom and one bathroom. Claiming its design elements “makes us one of a kind,” the space features a brick backsplash in the kitchen, steel beams by the front door, and a painted accent wall in the bedroom. The current rent is $1,230 per month.

The Goldin Group Property Management

With one bedroom and one bathroom in 611 square feet, this Buckhead condo features hardwoods throughout the living areas, new carpet in the bedroom, and a “gorgeous fifth floor view,” although the photos don’t reveal what the view captures. Building amenities include gated parking, a rooftop swimming pool, and an outdoor area with gas grills and seating areas. The current monthly rent is $1,175.

B. Wolf and Sons

Newly renovated, this 708-square-foot apartment in Reynoldstown is the only offering in this bunch with two bedrooms, plus one bathroom. Updates to the space include new flooring, quartz countertops, and new electrical and plumbing. Located in a “beautiful historic community,” it’s also close to the Beltline’s Eastside Trail and just five miles from downtown. Monthly rent is $1,199.

Gables Midtown

With one bedroom and one bathroom in 675 square feet, this sixth-floor apartment in Piedmont Heights contains Energy Star appliances, in-unit laundry facilities, and built-in bookshelves. Building amenities include a rooftop lounge, a fitness center, a swimming pool, and a barbecue area. The listing also boasts of spectacular views of Midtown and Buckhead, but don’t forget that up-close-and-personal view of Interstate 85. The monthly rent currently is $1,250.

Mid-America Apartment Communities Inc.

Located in Peachtree Hills, this end-unit, terrace-level apartment comes with one bedroom and one bathroom in 567 square feet. Design details range from a tiled backsplash to granite countertops to ceramic tile floors. It even includes a small balcony. Renters also can take advantage of such community amenities as two swimming pools, two tennis courts, and a sand volleyball court. Current rent is $1,225 per month.
