Southwest of Atlanta, the City of East Point continues to evolve with another new facility now available to serve locals and visitors.

City officials cut the ribbon last week to open a new city hall at 2757 East Point Street. Claiming the site of a former inactive fire station, the building is part of a new 32,130-square-foot complex at the corner of East Point Street and West Cleveland Avenue.

Inside, the building includes city offices and a multi-purpose city council chamber. Outside, a splashy water feature adds a touch of interest, while an outdoor amphitheater sits ready to host events and activities for its population of more than 35,000 residents.

This latest development marks another significant change for East Point’s transit-connected core. Last month, StationSoccer, the third location of a Soccer in the Streets field, broke ground next to the East Point MARTA Station.

An outdoor amphitheater sits ready to host special events.

Also on tap is a new project on a two-acre lot on Washington Avenue that calls for a “unique, transit-oriented retail and food hub with a middle housing component” on the site of a former car dealership.

These current and future developments continue to reinforce the city’s self-proclaimed motto as a destination for “live-work-play-shop-stay.”
