An adaptive-reuse village is coming together on Memorial Drive.

Sometime this fall, the booming corridor is expected to welcome Larkin on Memorial, billed as “Main Street in Your Backyard” across the street from Oakland Cemetery. Collectively, it could provide the retail boost Grant Park has long needed, as neighborhood old-timers will tell you.

Officials with Paces Properties—developers of Krog Street Market, The Office apartment-tower conversion downtown, and under-construction Atlanta Dairies farther east on Memorial—led us on a tour of Larkin progress a couple of weeks ago.

Around the 63,000-square-foot property, several unclaimed retail slots remain, but so far the lineup looks eclectic.

Earlier gets included Taqueria del Sol, Ramen Station, Firepit Pizza Tavern (by celebrity chef Leslie Cohen), Ace Hardware, Primrose Schools, and a second local concept by the folks at Candler Park Market called Grant Park Market.

More recent signings include local health-food chain Kale Me Crazy, women’s clothing boutique Squash Blossom, and Full Commission gastropub.

The redevelopment’s stated goal is “to serve the day-to-day needs of our neighbors in the Grant Park, Ormewood Park, Cabbagetown, Reynoldstown, and East Atlanta neighborhoods.”

For this installment of the Visual Journeys series, have a look around:

The Larkin property on Memorial Drive will include eateries, an Ace Hardware, Grant Park Market, a Primrose School, office space, and more. The air-conditioning building at left will be part of Taqueria del Sol.

The Larkin property is across the street from Oakland Cemetery.
The red brick building will be the Primrose School, the middle space is covered parking, the windows mark a still-unclaimed space, and on the right will be Squash Blossom.
The left space is still vacant, but talks are happening with another restaurant group; the middle will be a shared outdoor patio; behind that is an upper-level office space, and the wooden building to the right will be Full Commission.
Full Commission to the left and space for more service-oriented tenants to the right.
The two spaces on the left are unclaimed while the space on the right will be Squash Blossom and Kale Me Crazy at the far end.
Squash Blossom will be taking over the space behind the excavator.
Ace Hardware is going in where the five Xs are on the windows, next to Grant Park Market.
